Presidio's Main Post Overhaul Turns Parking Lot to Grass by 2011

Minus one contemporary art museum, the Presidio's moving ahead with its multiyear overhaul of the Main Post.

First up, in the next couple weeks, is a $28 million rehab of the Montgomery Street barracks that would open up office space on the buildings' upper floors, and restaurant and shop space on the ground floors.

The Presidio Officers Club and Pershing Hall will become a visitors center and a 19-suite bed and breakfast, respectively. By spring of 2011, reports the SF Business Times, they'll be ripping out the Main Post's parking lot and turning it into grass. Cartwheeling imminent!
