Newsom Throws Giant Party Outside City Hall

Want to watch the Giants game with fellow fans?

Because Monday night's Game 5 in Arlington, Texas could clinch the World Series for the Giants, San Francisco has invited everybody over to Civic Center Plaza to watch the game.

Mayor Gavin Newsom made the announcement just minutes after the Giants' big 4-0 win in Texas Sunday.  The mayor says it will be a similar set up to the one during the World Cup earlier this summer.  A jumbotron screen will broadcast the entire game just outside City Hall.

City officials cleared the plan ahead of time with the Fox network.

“The game that could clinch the Series may be in Texas, but we’re creating an opportunity right in front of City Hall for families to gather and cheer the Giants to a World Championship," Newsom said in a statement.

You can cheer as loud as you like, but know before you go that alcohol will not be sold or permitted in the area. Food vendors from Off The Grid will be on site, but they will not be allowed to sell booze.

First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. and the mayor recommends people arrive early for a good seat.

Tomorrow's party is the latest city-sponsored celebration of the team's World Series appearance.  You may have noticed the sky cameras showing City Hall, the Ferry Building, Coit Tower, the Conservatory of Flowers as well as other landmarks lit up in orange.
