Google has reorganized and its chief executive Larry Page is making Sundar Pichai head of Google products.
Pichai already has a lot of responsibilities, including managing Chrome, Android and Google Apps, which he will continue to run, according to the Re/Code. Pichai will also have to oversee such things as Google's research, search, maps, Google+ and commerce. Apparently Page is tired of overseeing the day-to-day minutiae and reports, and he wants someone else -- Pichai -- to handle that.
The reorganization leaves out YouTube, with its chief Susan Wojcicki reporting directly to Page.
It seems as if Page is promoting a loyal lieutenant to manage Google while he focuses on "big picture" things, according to the Re/Code. What that is exactly isn't clear, especially since founder Sergey Brin seems to be spending most of his time at Google's secret lab, Google X.
