Zuckerberg 'Likes' Pinterest Rival

Friendsheet, as an app, isn't as accepted as Pinterest, but it is a similar experience.

Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg decided to give a thumb's up to Friendsheet, a Facebook app that essentially mimics the layout of social bookmarking darling Pinterest.

Friendsheet takes photos from one's Facebook news feed and puts them in the Pinterest-esque layout of small panels, like images stuck to a pinboard, according to Mashable.

Zuckerberg pushed the "Like" button on the app Tuesday and its likely that the app that debuted in January will have renewed interest -- because Zuckerberg has around 12 million followers on his Facebook Timeline.

“The goal was to take Facebook photos, and turn it into a visual experience while maintaining speed, performance, and a great, intuitive experience,” Friendsheet creator Zachary Allia wrote on Facebook.

It's not surprising that Zuckerberg singled out the app. Although he's a member of Pinterest, he sees the social bookmarking site has something that Facebook needs to copy if it hopes to keep its users glued to the social network. An app like Friendsheet might be able to do that.
