Levi Johnston's latest stunt is running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. It's the very job that launched Sarah Palin to the governor's mansion and then to national fame. Johnston, a 20-year-old high school dropout has partnered with a production crew for a reality TV show that will follow him on the campaign trail, Variety mag reported.

What Levi giveth, Levi can taketh away.

Levi Johnston, the father of Sarah Palin's grandson, wishes he had never issued an apology to the former vice presidential candidate for supposedly telling lies about her, he said during an interview on CBS' "The Early Show."

"I don't regret anything," Johnston said. "But the only thing I wish I wouldn't have done is put out the apology 'cuse it kind of makes me sound like a liar. And I've never lied about anything. So that's probably the only thing. The rest of the stuff I can live with."

What the other "stuff" is has been left to the imagination.

Johnston has twice been engaged to Palin's daughter, Bristol, and they have a son together, Tripp. The couple most recently split August 3 after rumors surfaced that Levi fathered a child with ex-girlfriend Lanesia Garcia. While those accusations seem to have been proven false, their mere existence was enough to cause them to go their separate ways again.

Johnston recently announced his intentions to run for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, which is his hometown. Sarah Palin also got her start in politics in Wasilla, first as a city council member and then as mayor.

Bristol Palin is reportedly going to appear as a contestant on the upcoming season of "Dancing With the Stars." After having criticized her ex for being "obessed with the limelight," Johnston said Bristol Palin and he are not so different after all.

"I don't think I'm any more obsessed with making a career out of this than she is," he said on Friday, according to People mag. "Obviously she's doing 'Dancing with the Stars.' I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with any of it. I'm just taking it as it comes."
