Members of Russian punk group Pussy Riot will speak in San Francisco.

Members of Russian punk activist group Pussy Riot will appear in the Bay Area for a talk at The Warfield in San Francisco next month.

The Moscow-based female collective drew international headlines in 2012 after being arrested for a performance in a cathedral that protested the Orthodox Church's support of Vladimir Putin. Three members were ultimately charged with "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred" and two served two years of prison time.

"I'm looking forward to talking about the Art Protest with the Pussy Riot members. I want to hear their opinion," wrote Zarina Zabrisky, a Russian author based in San Francisco who will moderate the conversation, in a story posted to Medium

Zabrisky also invited the public to submit questions.

Zabrisky has never met the group, but assumes she was asked to participate in the event because she organized a protest in San Francisco during the group's 2012 trial.

Tickets range from $25-45 in advance.
