Bay Area 2009 Elections Results

Cities across the Bay Area asked voters to dig deep to recover funds lost from the state. More than 25 tax measures are on local ballots in the nine county region.
No surprise: Lt. Gov. John Garamendi easily won the congressional seat left vacant by Ellen Tauscher. That keeps District 10 in Democratic hands.
Vallejo's Measure U is raised some eyebrows because it could amount to a tax on texting. Eight other Bay Area districts asked voters to tax themselves to fund education.
Plus, voters decided on naming rights for Candlestick Park, as well as whether or not to allow advertisements and billboards along Market Street.
