Beyond Wonderland, a popular two-day electronic dance event, is scheduled to hit the Bay Area this weekend, and authorities, includint Sen. Diane Feinstein, are concerned about drug use at this upcoming rave at Mountain View's shoreline. Bob Redell reports.
Beyond Wonderland, a popular two-day electronic dance event that many simply call a drug-induced "rave," is scheduled to come to Mountain View’s Shoreline Amphitheatre this weekend.
The party, organized by promoter Insomniac Events, is popular with 20-somethings, who say the event is typically filled with guests under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
“They say don’t do drugs, but students, people or whoever goes, they do them anyway,” said a San Jose State student who wanted to be identified as “Chris.”
In response, Mountain View police and Santa Clara County health officials are warning anyone attending the event to avoid -- and even report -- anything illegal.
Senator Dianne Feinstein is weighing in, saying Wednesday she is concerned about the growing use of party drugs.
The event organizers say they do not allow or condone the use of drugs.
