Report of Man with Gun on East Bay BART Train Prompts Delays

BART police said a 20-minute delay this evening at Oakland's MacArthur station occurred because a citizen reported seeing a man with a gun on a Fremont-bound train.

Police received the first report of the incident at 4:56 p.m. but did not locate the man, BART police Lt. Paul Kwon said. BART officials reported the delay on Twitter at 5:15 p.m. and normal service has since been restored.

The delay affected trains going in the Pittsburg/Bay Point, Richmond, Fremont and San Francisco directions.
