Firefighters Find Pot Grow in Hayward Home

Firefighters battling a house fire in Hayward discovered more than 200 marijuana plants when crews showed up Wednesday night to battle a blaze in a garage.

Battalion Chief Scott Anderson said the fire was called in about 10:30 p.m. on Lori Way. And when firefighters arrived, they found the high voltage power line was arcing and pot plants scattered throughout the three-bedroom house, some of them standing five feet tall.

No one was home, and now investigators are trying to determine who is responsible for the plants.
