A Mini Cooper was possibly pushed off a cliff on Yerba Buena Island in San Francisco, firefighters said, who sent two swimmers on Tuesday morning to investigate what happened.
There was no person or body inside the car, which, from the air, had landed on some bushes down a steep embankment.
The car went over the cliff from eastbound Interstate Highway 80 on the lighthouse side of the island before 8 a.m.
