San Jose police began investigating the city's first homicide of the year early Thursday after they found a man shot in someone's driveway in the eastern part of the city. Bob Redell reports.
A male was fatally shot in San Jose on Tuesday, marking the city's third homicide of 2014.
San Jose police received reports just after 5:30 p.m. of a shot fired and a person down in the area of Loma Verde Drive and Eden Avenue. When officers arrived on scene they located a male suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police said.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.
No suspects have been identified or detained at this time and the victim's identity is being withheld pending coroner notifications to his next of kin.
An investigation is ongoing.
Forty-four homicides were recorded in San Jose in 2013.
