Police Sit Down To Talk With Suspected Gang Members

East Palo Alto police are holding talks with some of the city's known gang members.

Officers, social service providers, local faith leaders and other community members met with 11 men with ties to gang violence and drug sales yesterday, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

All of the men are on probation, but are not being investigated for a crime.

The sit down is part of a state funded program called Operation Ceasefire. It's taking place in 10 cities across the state.

The message of the March 1meeting was simple, parolees need to take advantage of the programs provided for them and stay out of trouble.
