Raiders' Offensive Line to Protest During National Anthem: Report

The offensive line for the Oakland Raiders — the only all African-American group in the NFL — is expected to protest during the national anthem before the team's Sunday night contest in the nation's capital, according to a report.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network tweeted that the five-man unit "plans to sit or kneel together during the anthem."

National anthem protests by NFL players took on new life this weekend after President Donald Trump suggested that players who refuse to stand for the anthem should be fired or suspended. The commander in chief also appeared to suggest that fans should boycott the league if the protests continue.

In the wake of Trump's comments, which were made on Saturday and Sunday, scores of NFL players across the league knelt or linked arms during the anthem during Sunday's slate of games.

National anthem protests across the NFL were spearheaded by former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who refused to stand during "The Star-Spangled Banner" last year in protest of racial injustice and unfair policing.
