SFPD Arrest Five in “Bound and Gagged” Case

San Francisco police on Tuesday announced the arrests of five people in connection with the deadly "bound and gagged" case over the weekend, which left a man dead and a young woman in critical condition.

Police at a news conference said that two will be charged in connection with the homicide, and the other three were arrested on accessory charges. The suspects had a "well established" relationship with the victims, police said.

The arrests came hours after the the San Francisco Medical Examiner identified the man who died after being bound and gagged Sunday night as 27-year-old Stephen Reid.

He and a young woman in her teens were found about 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the 900  block of Brussels Street in the city's Bayview district, according to San Francisco Officer Albie Esparza. Police on Tuesday said that Reid had been shot and received some "blunt force trauma."

Both were alive at the time they were found, but Reid died later at San Francisco General Hospital.

The young woman was in critical condition on Tuesday.

Arrested in connection with the homicide are: Maelene Lintz, 32, of San Francisco, and Montrail Brackens, 21, of Oakland. Arrested on accessory charges are: Tyler Miller, 19, of Hercules; Heather Leach, 24, of Hercules; and Maryann Manalastas, 22, of Oakland.
