19-Year-Old Arrested in Series of at Least 13 San Jose Burglaries

A 19-year-old man suspected in a rash of at least 13 burglaries and perhaps seven others in south and east San Jose since November was arrested Wednesday, according to a police spokeswoman.

Jacob Breschi was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on Wednesday on suspicion of performing multiple burglaries, police spokeswoman Sgt. Heather Randol said.

Breschi is being held at the county jail with no bail allowed and is scheduled to be arraigned in Santa Clara County Superior Court in San Jose on Friday, according to jail records.

The rash of burglaries began in early November, including at least two instances in which guns were stolen from homes and two incidents where the victim confronted the suspect, Randol said.

Police suspect that Breschi was responsible for at the least 13 burglaries from November to this month and believe he may have been involved on seven others, according to Randol. The burglaries continued in this month prior to his arrest, which came after police identified Breschi as a possible suspect and them tied him to a minimum of 13 of the recent burglaries, she said.

The crimes took place in the jurisdictions of the Police Department's Foothill division, covering parts of East San Jose, and the Southern division that covers South San Jose, police said.

Those with information about any of the burglaries may call Detective Enrique Marquez in the department's financial crimes unit at (408) 277-4401, or leave an anonymous tip with Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-7867.
