The controversy clouding the Santa Clara County jail system has reportedly sparked some changes to the tune of more money going to the jail.

The Mercury News reports over the next two years the county will spend $74 million beyond the original budget.

That money will go to improving the training of guards and beefing up psychiatric care.

The new plan comes in the wake of last summer's beating death of a mentally ill inmate, where three guards are now facing criminal charges.
