Silicon Valley Tour de Coop Brings Neighbors Together

Participants learn about chicken coop maintenance, backyard gardening and beekeeping

The fifth annual Tour de Coop brought approximately 1,800 bikers to neighborhood chicken coops in neighborhoods across Silicon Valley.

So, if you drove by bikers with paper chicken cutouts taped to their helmets Saturday, they may have been on their way to the next stop along one of the Silicon Valley Tour de Coop routes.

With stops in cities stretching from Redwood City to San Jose, around 40 people, organizations and businesses signed up to host bike riders along the route.

Each stop had different features: food, music, experts and information or just neighborly chatter by the chicken coop.

The event website, lists some of the city ordinances to keep in mind for others seeking to start a chicken coop of their own.
