Southwest Flight From SJ Makes Emergency Landing at LAX

A Southwest Airlines flight from San Jose made an emergency landing at LAX late Tuesday.

Authorities said the pilot of the plane, Southwest flight 1516, saw the heat sensor light come on in his cockpit, which indicates there may be some fire or smoke in the cargo hold.

The plane departed from Mineta San Jose International Airport  at 9:14 p.m. and was diverted to LAX, landing safely at 10:04 p.m., officials said.

The fire department checked the cargo hold and the plane was cleared for takeoff, landing at its destination in San Diego at 11:17 p.m.
