Gold Medal-Winning Gymnast Gabby Douglas to Become a Miss America Judge

Douglas won her third gold medal at the Rio Olympics

After competing in two Olympics, it's time for gold medalist Gabby Douglas to become the judge.

Douglas is joining the judging panel for the 2017 Miss America competition, the Miss America Organization announced Monday. Musician and actress Laura Marano was also announced as a judge.

"Miss America has been such an amazing event for so many years and I am excited to have the opportunity to judge the competition this year," Douglas said in the statement. "The contestants are a great example of strong women across America and I especially look forward to hearing the platforms that each of them will represent!"

Douglas and Marano round out the celebrity judging panel that also includes former Miss America Sharlene Wells Hawkes, billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban, actress Sara Foster from VH1's "Barely Famous" and singer-songwriter Cole Swindell.

Douglas won her third gold medal at the Rio Olympics with the U.S. women's gymnastics team. She took gold in the individual and team all-around competitions at the London Olympics, when she was just 16 years old.

ESPN's Sage Steele and Chris Harrison co-host the pageant, which takes place on Sept. 11 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
