1 Dead, 1 Hurt in Church Parking Lot “Gang-on-Gang” Shooting

One person was killed and another injured in what police called a "gang-on-gang" shooting at a San Fernando Valley church parking lot Thursday night, police said.

The shooting was reported about 9:50 p.m. near Rayen Street and Sepulveda Boulevard in North Hills, Los Angeles police said. The deceased victim was identified as a 24-year-old man. The injured victim was 16 years old, according to a police statement.

Gang members approached "two rivals" eating at a food truck near the church and attacked the teen, witnesses told police. A third attacker "led the 24-year-old victim a few yards away" and shot him, police said.

The 16-year-old victim suffered a graze wound to the leg.

Police were searching for the three attackers who left in a gray minivan.

Law enforcement agents plan to increase patrols in the area over the next few days.
