Toby Gerhart didn't have long to enjoy the fact that he is one of five finalists for the 2009 Heisman Trophy.

Just minutes after his name was unveiled Monday, Stanford's star running back rushed to take care of other important business -- a final exam.

"There was a lot of chest bumping but it was short lived," Gerhart said Tuesday in his first meeting with the media since the announcement.  "I had to run and take a final."

But there was a silver lining for the nation's leading rusher.

"It put me in a good mood for my test, at least."

Gerhart is in the midst of a whirlwind week.  The senior has already taken two finals, with a paper and take-home exam still to complete, in addition to one final test, which he will take in a hotel room in Florida.  That's because before the Heisman presentation on Saturday in New York, Gerhart will be in the Sunshine State for the Doak Walker Award ceremony on Thursday.

To accommodate all the award honors, the Cardinal's MVP admitted he had to upgrade his wardrobe by purchasing another suit.  He now has two.

But while Gerhart is proud of this individual accomplishment, he remains a team-first guy.  That's why he didn't want Stanford to do much Heisman campaigning on his behalf.  Despite that, he still cracked the list.

"I let my production and play speak for itself," he said.  "Being recognized for what you do on the field and not being a media baby makes it that much more special."

Gerhart hasn't had much time to contemplate what will happen if he actually wins the Heisman Trophy, but the thought has crossed his mind.

"If I do win it I'll be speechless.  It will be the greatest moment of my life."
