Sports talk radio station KNBR hired former Oakland Athletics outfield Eric Byrnes to host its evening 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. show, according to Rich Lieberman's media blog.

Byrnes will replace former A's and Giants' player F.P. Santangelo, who left the station to become a broadcaster for the Washington Nationals.

KNBR did not officially announce the move but Byrnes is expected to begin hosting the evening show, which turns into Giants' post game during the baseball season, on March 23.

Byrnes has often appeared on the station, while he was still playing in the majors and since. He has also co-hosted FOX's baseball coverage as well.

Byrnes lives in Half Moon Bay.
