Most Popular Bay Area Sports Stories of 2010

Perhaps the darlings of the Bay Area sporting year was the St. Mary's men's basketball team. Led by big man Omar Samhan, Randy Bennett's team followed a stellar regular season by making a deep run into the NCAA Tournament. After beating No. 7 Richmond and No. 2 Villanova in the first two rounds, the Gaels eventually lost to No. 3 Baylor in the Sweet Sixteen but not before making fans across the Bay Area and the country.
