Seahawks, 49ers Fans Donate Fundraiser Proceeds to Charities in Rival's City

Seattle Seahawks fans are giving back to the Bay Area in what's become a war of good deeds.

Seattle fans have created a campaign on GoFundMe.com called “12th Spirit.” The goal is to raise $20,000 for UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in San Francisco.

As of Thursday afternoon, the fundraising page indicated they were less than $3,000 away from their goal.

The campaign is in response to this one by 49ers fans. They wanted to raise money for a pro-Niners billboard in Seattle. When they were overwhelmed with donations, they promised to donate the rest of the money to the Seattle Children's Hospital.

The 49ers fans raised money for the billboard after some diehard Seahawks fans raised enough for a banner to be flown over Candlestick Park for 15 minutes during this season’s game between the two rivals.

In all, the combined campaigns have raised more than $53,000.
