Skype Connects Free Wi-Fi at 50 Airports

All you need is a Skype account to connect for free during the holiday season.

You can thank Skype after the holiday season for making your holiday travel a little easier.

The VoIP-provider, with a major presence in Palo Alto, is providing free Wi-Fi at 50 airports across the country.

"The holidays are all about connecting with those you love. Skype is excited to help you maintain these meaningful connections wherever you may be this holiday season," said Skype Wi-Fi Product Manager Shadi Mahassel. "A voice or video call via Skype when you can't be together for the holidays is the next best thing to being there."

Here in the Bay Area, Skype will provide Wi-Fi at San Francisco International Airport, Sacramento International Airport and Monterey Peninsula Airport.

The service will be available for free from Dec. 21 to Dec. 27. To use the service, you have to download the latest version of Skype and login with your account.

Once on, check your Wi-Fi settings and enjoy the free surfing.
