South Park is a small neighborhood in San Francisco's South of Market area that has become a mecca for hot tech companies, like Twitter, digital-culture icons like Wikipedia, and the people who cover them, like Wired and Macworld.

The neighborhood attracted companies during the mid-'90s for its low rent and proximity to downtown. The flurry of companies that started to call South Park home made the area ground zero for the dotcom boom.

Named after South Park Street and the neighboring park of the same name, the district now features a mix of 20th century architecture and modern lofts that play host to trendy cafes, apartments and a variety of online media companies, venture capital groups and tech firms.
