Record setting rain totals including .66 at San Jose Airport not only broke daily rainfall records, but exceeded monthly averages for September. With totals at .39 for San Francisco and .61 in Oakland we saw the wettest day since early April. That s now in the rear view mirror as we move into the first day of Fall (arrives 1:44 pm) with sun at times today mixed with areas of low clouds for the morning, then high clouds at times approaching sunset. Winds will be a bit gustier, especially by mid-afternoon into the 15-25 mph range, mainly near the coastal hills and bay. We ll see a little warming inland on Monday with highs returning to the 80s in the valleys before temps cool again as a trough of low pressure drops in east of the Sierra around midweek. The next major weather pattern shift on the horizon will be a possible offshore wind event starting late Thursday. More typical for this time of year, offshore winds can bring some of the sunniest and warmest days of the year to the coastline, but also bring lowering humidity levels across the Bay Area (especially the hilltops) which will need to be monitored for possible fire danger concerns by Friday and Saturday even with the recent rainfall.
