“Superman” Gets its Perry White

We'll say one thing, Zack Snyder's "Superman" movie may not top Richard Donner's, but it will at least out-cast it.

Where Donner's film boasted names like Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, Jackie Cooper, and Glenn Ford, Snyder's already stars Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Russell Crowe, Amy Adams, and Julia Ormond. Now, we can add Laurence Fishburne to this impressive list.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Fishburne will be taking the role of Perry White, editor-in-chief of the "Daily Planet" who frequently barks at his ace reporters, Clark Kent and Lois Lane.

Cooper played White in Donner's original Superman movie, and Frank Langella starred in the role for director Bryan Singer in "Superman Returns."

No one can shout a ball-busting reprimand better than Fishburne, so we're excited to see him behind a big Daily Planet news desk. We're also anxious to see the internet trolls - having pretty much lost their ridiculous crusade against Idris Elba in "Thor" - polluting comment sections the world over with "but he's Perry WHITE" complaints.

Fishburne recently exited the iconic TV police procedural "CSI" after a pair of seasons, and was replaced by Ted Danson.

We just hope Snyder has more up his sleeve than eye-catching casting when "Man of Steel" finally hits theaters. Warner Bros. and DC Comics need a non-Batman homerun, badly.
