Lobster Lunch at Saracina Vineyards

CRUSTACEAN DAY: Lobster lunches -- well, gosh, lobster anythings -- aren't nearly as common in these westerly parts as they are on the other side of the country. That's not to say we don't like our butter-soaked Thermidors and tails and such, but the opportunities the gather en masses and throw a lobster hoedown are fewer. So lobster hoedowns, specifically al fresco lobster hoedowns, catch our eye, specifically because they do summon certain stretches of Maine coastline. Maine'll meet Hopland on Saturday, June 4, when Saracina Vineyards stages a Lobster Lunch.

NEW WINES TO TRY: In addition to the main dish, owner John Fetzer will be on the grounds, talking about some of Saracina's latest sips. But there won't just be talk, of course; you'll be trying pinots and the unoaked chardonnay. Something about "unoaked chardonnay" says "rich seafood sipping" to us. A ticket to the lunch is $65, and advance reservations are a must. Call 707-744-1671 or email Amanda Fraser at afraser@saracina.com.
