It hasn’t been the best of times for David Arquette.

Since separating from wife Courteney Cox in October, the actor has hit a bit of a rough patch; TMZ reports that he’s checked himself into a rehab program.

Arquette’s rep had “no further information” as to why he checked himself in, though a source tells People that “he is in there for drinking and depression, not hard drugs.”  However, Cox had nothing but words of encouragement for her ex.  "I really admire David and his choice to take charge and better his life," Cox told People on Sunday night.  "I love him and support him."

All this comes amidst the buzz of Lindsay Lohan’s upcoming release from rehab. The “Mean Girls” star of yore and budding philosopher is being released from the Betty Ford Clinic soon.

During a recent interview with Howard Stern, the “Scream” actor admitted his psychologist thought he was experiencing a “nervous breakdown.” Arquette also said he was drinking often. “Everybody’s worried and concerned about me,” Arquette said.

    “When I drink, I become a maniac.”
