After more than 10 years in fashion design and production for retailers such as Levi's and Gap, designer Paula Collins has recently decided to launch her own line of vegetable dyed leather handbags, Hawke and Carry.
"There is a huge trend in rucksacks at the moment which is great. But I am interested in taking those practical designs and widdling them down into even more simple pieces. The focus is very much on the leathers being used and not on a lot of hard-wear," reveals Collins.
Collins welcomed The Feast into her bright Hayes Valley studio where she designs and hand-crafts these gorgeous leather pieces, and let us in on her motivations for the new line, her history in the industry, and her environmentally-sensitive, artisan-influenced design process.
