High Speed Rail from Nowhere to Nowhere

The state's high speed rail agency and its federal supporters are in danger of turning their efforts into a joke. They seem intent on building the first stretch of California's high-speed network between two small Central Valley towns few Californians could place on a map. It's railway to nowhere.

Yes, high-speed rail must be built in pieces. But the first of those pieces should link two significant cities (Fresno and Bakersfield, or Los Angeles and San Diego being the natural choices). High-speed rail advocates must reverse course before the backlash builds.
