Meet Ensemble Mik Nawooj, Hip-Hop Orchestra

Record release party at Intersection of the Arts on Sept. 6

Oakland's Ensemble Mik Nawooj is an orchestra with a hip-hop twist. Along with a wealth of influences culled from pop and rock, the 10-piece chamber ensemble (which comes complete with an opera singer and two MCs) enters the chamber of such rap icons as Wu-Tang Clan and Snoop Dogg for inspiration.

SF's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts has enlisted founder and composer JooWan Kim to explore the Enter the 36 Chambers and Doggystyle albums and reimagine their highlights during a 21st anniversary celebration to come in November. For now, you can catch them live at Intersection of the Arts on September 6 to celebrate the release of the new album Ensemble Mik Nawooj: A Hip-Hop Orchestra.
