The U.S. Coast Guard says two men have been found dead in a boat that was discovered capsized in steep swells off California's central coast.
The Coast Guard launched a search for possible victims after being notified around 10:00 a.m. Saturday that a boat was overturned about one nautical mile from Pillar Point Harbor in Half Moon Bay.
According to the agency, the 22-foot Grady White fishing boat was towed to the harbor around 3 p.m. and the bodies discovered when the boat was righted.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office identified the men as 47-year-old David Tien and 45-year-old Jim Hsu, cousins from Milpitas.
Authorities described Tien as an experienced rough-water fisherman. Fellow fishermen say thick fog may have played a role in the accident.
