Valley Christian School Bus Injures Two

Women walking on sideway when hit

One woman was critically injured and another suffered serious  injuries Monday morning when a school bus leaving Valley Christian High School  struck them as they walked on a sidewalk, San Jose police Officer Enrique  Garcia said.

A 48-year-old San Jose woman was driving the bus down the school's  private, two-lane driveway toward Skyway Drive around 9 a.m. when for an  unknown reason the bus struck two women, Garcia said.

A 26-year-old San Jose woman and a 48-year-old San Jose woman  walking on the sidewalk uphill toward the campus were hit. The 26-year-old  woman has been listed in critical condition and the 48-year-old woman in  serious to moderate condition, Garcia said.

Investigators interviewed the bus driver but did not cite her or  take her into custody. No children were on board the bus when the collision  occurred.

"We have not been able to determine why (the collision) occurred,"  Garcia said.

Immediately following the crash, two cars driving up the hill  toward campus collided, leaving occupants of the vehicles complaining of  pain. Garcia said the second crash was unrelated.
