6/9: A Pink Slip Party, Wicked, and a Film Festival

Party pink slip-style, get Wicked, watch the next big films

PINK SLIP PARTY: Get your party on with a pink slip -- in hand. Share some drinks with fellow formerly-employed for a chance to go home with a job. It's a social time and a chance to mingle with recruiters and entrepeneurs. The party is free and it starts at 7 p.m. at Lime at 2247 Market Street.

GET WICKED: There's a story behind those witches in the Wizard of Oz. Broadway original musical Wicked tells the tale of two best friends who became opposites on the scale of good and evil. Take in the beauty of the historic Orpheum Theatre as you learn the history of the witches of Oz. The show starts at 8 p.m. The Orpheum is at 1192 Market Street.

48 HOURS TO THE BEST FILM: Filmmakers from all over the Bay Area compete in a creative way to see who can put together the best short film over the course of two days. Anyone can submit a film and the winner's project will go up against others for a $3,000 prize, a chance to go to the Cannes International Film Festival and and the title of "Best 48 Hour Film of 2009."  Shows start at 7 p.m. at the Roxie Theater at 3117 16th Str. in San Francisco.
