State Lawmakers Says He Was Asked to Wear Wire

Embattled California state Sen. Ron Calderon says federal authorities wanted him to wear a wire and record conversations with the Senate leader and another lawmaker.

After he refused, he says they tried to ruin his reputation by raiding his offices and leaking an FBI affidavit alleging he took money in return for promoting certain bills.

Calderon hasn't been charged and has denied any wrongdoing.

He filed a complaint Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Sacramento. The Democrat from the Los Angeles area asked a judge to hold federal investigators in contempt.

Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg called the court filing ``pure fantasy.'' He says Calderon is lashing out after he was stripped of his committee assignments.

Sen. Kevin de Leon responded that prosecutors have said in writing he is not a target of any investigation
