13-Year-Old Robbery Suspect Shot, Arrested

After being shot in the hand, a 13-year-old suspect was arrested for attempted armed robbery in Gilroy early Tuesday morning.

An employee of the Garlic City Card Club on Hornlein Court was in his car when three people tried to rob him at gunpoint, according to a release from the Gilroy Police Department.

The employee pulled out a gun from inside his car and fired at the suspects, hitting at least one of them.

The victim wasn't hurt, but later deputies from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office found the 13-year-old with a gunshot wound to his hand near Forest Street and Serafino Street.

He was arrested after being treated at St. Louise Regional Hospital, then released to his mother after cooperating with the investigation.

The other two suspects were not found. Anyone with information can contact Detective Mike Bolton at 408-846-0335 or call the anonymous tip line at 1-800-782-7463.
