SJ Police Investigating Baby's Death

Little information is being released about the 18-month-old.

Police are investigating the death of an 18-month-old child that occurred Wednesday in San Jose.

An unidentified person at the child's home reportedly called emergency responders around 3 p.m. Wednesday, reporting a medical emergency involving a child, police spokesman Officer Jose Garcia said.

Police, firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene, and the child was taken to Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead, Garcia said.

Homicide detectives are reportedly investigating the case because of the protocol involved with child deaths, Garcia said.

The police are not releasing the child's gender or the nature of the medical emergency and are still awaiting the autopsy report, Garcia said.
