Two homeless men who were struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Berkeley on Thursday night were identified by the Alameda County coroner on Monday as Jason Clary, 37, and Jupiter Ganymede Marley, 31.
Neither man had a listed permanent address, according to a coroner's spokesman.
Authorities said Clary and Marley were struck by the train, which was traveling from Bakersfield to Oakland, near the Amtrak station near University Avenue between Second and Fourth streets at about 8:10 p.m. on Thursday.
East Bay Community Law Center attorney Osha Neumann said the two men were homeless and had just been evicted from a large homeless camp on Caltrans property near Berkeley Aquatic Park.
Neumann said Caltrans had cleared camps in that area on three days of last week, most recently removing a camp on Thursday near the Sea Breeze Market and Deli at 598 University Ave., on Thursday.
