Man Seriously Injured When Mustang Hits Tree

Antioch police say one person was seriously injured Thursday afternoon in a solo vehicle crash. (Published Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015)

Antioch police say one person was seriously injured Thursday afternoon in a solo vehicle crash.

Police were called to the intersection of Buchanan Road and Del Oro Cir around 3:15 p.m. on a report of a solo vehicle collision. The vehicle, a yellow Ford Mustang, had struck a large tree and its sole occupant, a 20-year-old Antioch male, had to be extricated by firefighters, police said.

The man was taken to a hospital with major injuries.

Police said the victim appears to have been driving west on Buchanan Road when he lost control at a bend in the road and collided with the tree.

Police said speed and bad weather appear to have been factors in the collision, and they are investigating whether alcohol was also involved.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call police at (925) 778-2441.
