Bay Area Musicians Lampoon Bieber, Skrillex

Bay Area musicians Thao Nguyen and Merrill Garbus star in a Funny Or Die parody of the making of a hit starring Justin Bieber.

In "Thao and Merrill Make a Hit," the ladies lampoon a New York Times video that discusses the anatomy of making of a top 10 single by Skrillex and Diplo (as Jack Ü) featuring Justin Bieber called "Where Are Ü Now."

Nguyen just released "A Man Alive," her fourth studio album as the frontwoman of the group Thao & The Get Down Stay Down

Garbus, also known as tUnE-yArDs, recently wrote a new song for the Google Doodle for International Women's Day, posting to Instagram that it was a new milestone in her music making.

"I am most proud of this #iwd2016 music because I engineered and produced it all myself," she wrote, "so my dream of becoming a producer and musician really did come true (and the myth of women not being able to 'handle' music tech is dissipating, in me as well as around me.) Thanks Mom, and all the passionate, confident women in my life who let me know there was no doubt I could do what I wanted. And let us help make that true right now for all women."
