Car Chase Ends with Suspect in a Tree

CHP uses night-vision goggles, infrared to find suspect.

A man is in jail after leading CHP officers on a wild goose chase that ended in Solano County Monday night.

Officers say they spotted the 1997 Honda Accord speeding westbound on Highway 80 near Midway Road around 10:30 p.m. They tried to stop the car, but it took off and exited at Midway.

CHP officers chased the car on county roads until it swerved into a ditch on Pleasants Valley Road, south of Cantelow Road. Officers say that's when the 24-year-old driver jumped out of the car and ran through a field, leaving his four passengers behind.

CHP officers used night-vision goggles, Infrared, Nightsun and a helicopter to find the man. They discovered him hiding in a tree about 30-feet above ground.

The Honda was allegedly stolen from Rocklin earlier that Monday.

The man was booked into Solano County Jail on charges of auto theft, evading a peace officer and being a parolee at large. He apparently had a warrant out of Yolo County for a prior stolen vehicle incident.
