Dead Body Found in San Jose's Guadalupe River

Volunteers cleaning up the Guadalupe River Saturday spotted the body.

A body found in San Jose's Guadalupe River Saturday morning appears to be that of a man in his 50s, according to San Jose police.

The body was spotted in the water between West Santa Clara and West Julian streets by volunteers cleaning the Guadalupe River and its banks around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Officer Jose Garcia said.

The manner and cause of death remain under investigation, but there are no apparent signs of foul play, Garcia said.

The man's identity was being withheld Saturday pending notification of next of kin.
