Gilroy Slammed with Power Outages

About 1,300 customers in Gilroy went without power Saturday, according to an advisory issued by Pacific Gas and Electric. 

The power outage started just before 4 p.m. due to of a downed wire at Monterey Road and Luchessa Avenue. 

A three-alarm fire is also burning this evening in Gilroy, fire officials said on Facebook.

Firefighters reported the fire on Facebook at 5:56 p.m. near Engle Way. This is the second fire of the day in Gilroy.

The first was reported at 5 a.m. near the intersection of Obata Way and Southside Drive, according to fire officials.

When firefighters arrived, they found a vehicle and a modular office building in flames. No other information was immediately available.

The cause is under investigation. No one was injured, according to fire officials.
