The Emeryville City Council has unanimously voted to raise the minimum wage to $12.25
The raise applies to employees at small businesses, which Emeryville defines as businesses with 55 or fewer workers. Incremental increases are built into the plan. By 2018, those same workers will earn $15 an hour.
Businesses with more than 55 employees must pay their workers $14.44 starting in July.
