Fire At San Jose Strip Mall

Fire crews don't know how the fire started at the Capital Commercial Center

San Jose firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze Thursday morning at an Alum rock strip mall, and were able to gain control of the flames in less than two hours.

Fire crews don't know how the fire started at the Capital Commercial Center at 175 South Capitol Ave., where there is a bridal shop, restaurants, and a tae kwon do center. Firefighters said there were no injuries. The fire was reported at 4:48 a.m.

Thursday's fire follows a much bigger blaze on Wednesday, where San Jose crews wrestled flames at the Summer Winds Nursery. In that fire, firefighters decided to let the flames burn for a while, so that the fire could eat all the chemicals and pesticides stored at sold at the nursery. The cause of that fire is also under investigation.
