Five Pricey Bikes Stolen in Four-Hour Period

No petty thievery here: a picky and discerning bicycle thief -- or thieves -- stole five high-end bicycles ranging in worth from $1,700 to $3,000 off of Fairfax streets on Saturday.

Hide your Fisher, hide your Trek, and hide any other two-wheeled pedaling machine that costs more than a decent used car: there's a thief that's going to find you. And take your bike.

A bourgeois burglar is picking off Marin County's most beautiful bicycles, according to the Marin Independent Journal, pilfering from Fairfax at least five high-end bicycles within a four-hour span on Saturday afternoon.

The bicycles ranged in value from $1,700 to $3,000, according to the newspaper, and were all stolen from downtown Fairfax between 3 and 6:50 p.m. All of the bikes but one were locked.

There were no witnesses, and, presumably, long walks home in bicycle shoes for the recently bicycle-bereft.
