An Oakland man has been arrested on suspicion of felony evasion and misdemeanor DUI offenses following a high-speed chase from Dublin to Oakland on Thursday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol said.
Officers attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Aaron Ulysses Chandler, 41, on Interstate Highway 580 in the Dublin area at about 2:30 p.m. on Thursday for a speeding violation, according to CHP spokesman Officer Herman Baza.
Chandler allegedly sped west on Highway 580 and eventually left the freeway on the 98th Avenue exit in East Oakland and weaved in and out of lanes on city streets, Baza said.
The CHP stopped pursuing Chandler at one point because it became too dangerous on surface streets so it watched him from above in a helicopter unit, according to Baza.
Chandler allegedly got back on Highway 580 but then took the Coolidge Avenue exit and stopped his car in the vicinity of Bartlett Street. He allegedly got out and acted like he was a normal person walking on the street, Baza said.
CHP officers then arrested him in the 3000 block of Bartlett Street a few minutes later at about 3 p.m. on Thursday, according to Baza.
No one was injured during the chase, Baza said.

Chandler is being held at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin in lieu of $85,000 bail and tentatively is scheduled to be arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court in Oakland on Monday.
Chandler was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor driving on a suspended license offense in addition to the felony evasion and misdemeanor DUI offenses.
